Solo Performer Beaty Brings "Emergency" to Forbes

Daniel Beaty plays more than 40 characters as a slave ship rises in front of the statue of Liberty in present-day New York City.

Mr. Beaty has performed Emergency all over the world, including off-Broadway in New York and Los Angeles, and on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, he brings his performance to the Forbes Center in Harrisonburg.  In a little more than a decade of performing, he’s received numerous awards, including the Lamplighter Award, Best in Theater from New York Magazine, and multiple NAACP theater awards.  Bob Leweke spoke with Daniel Beaty by phone  and asked him about his performances, and what’s been most rewarding.

Bob Leweke is WMRA's News Director and Morning Edition host.
